Verify the composite plan

Cross-check the court surveyor’s composite plan against the original plans filed by the parties, including coordinates, bearings, distances, scale, orientation, acreage and relative position.

Seek correction where necessary

Where material errors or omissions are identified, counsel may consider an application under Order 26 rule 2(2) for a further or supplementary report and, where necessary, correction or redrawing.

Prepare focused cross-examination

Use the SPV findings to formulate technical questions about source plans, coordinates, plotting procedure, scale, datum, grid or CRS, measurements and conclusions. The attached brief notes the fourteen-day timing under rule 4(1).

Call a party’s SPV expert

Where matters remain unclear, counsel may consider reasonable notice under Order 26 rule 6(1) and call one suitably qualified expert on matters reported upon by the court expert.
